I have come to a point in my master bedroom where I just need to be done for awhile. You know how it is, there is always going to be changes…that is just how the ball bounces!! But, really I am so excited to move on to my next project that I am ready to reveal the master bedroom!
I regret that I do not have any pics of the before…I just went through 15 cd’s of pictures and there was not one single picture of my bedroom. I guess I don’t take pictures in the bedroom…maybe this is a good thing!
I do however have a few pics to give you a good example of what it was like. I used to have a strong affinity for very dark colors…imagine a dark brown/red room with dark wood accents.
This is very similar to the color that I had and this shelf setup was at the end of my bed…yikes! Do you ever ask yourself “what were you thinking?”
I had moved my original bedside tables into the living room and was using these bar stools as side tables…no kidding!
This was the original comforter. I did like what it looked like and how it felt. I did not like that is always looked wrinkled. I am not one to iron my bedding.
So now to the reveal!
My dog is a photo hound! This is her spot and she refused to not be in the picture!
Initially, I had really wanted white bedding. I bought and took back three different quilts/comforters/duvet covers. I chose this one because it was so easy! My dog and kids are always on the bed. This quilt can easily be thrown in the washer and then thrown right back on the bed. There is no ironing, no trying to get the comforter back into the duvet cover, no fluffing involved!
I searched forever for a dresser that I could redo. I did not one with fancy lines and a lot of character, just wanted plain and simple. Never found it. But I did find this simple white dresser for a steal…love it!
I ended up going with the open style side tables that I found at Pier 1. What I liked is that they have a little shine to them and a place that I could put a basket on the bottom. I love magazines, my husband loves them even more, and this is a great place to store them.
The lamp shades are from Lowe’s…on clearance for $0.65! They had a holiday ribbon around the edges which I replaced.
No room in my home is complete without pictures of my babies!
Linen pillows were hand made and I hope make the chairs fit better into the room design. I had thought about reupholstering the chairs…got a little lazy! The side table was made from a little side table that I had for years and then I topped it with a slice of tree stump. (Thanks dad!)
My kids are at that age now where sometimes I need to get away from them and their friends (imagine 3 teenage girls squealing around your house) so I love having a seating area in the bedroom to escape!
Any stylish girl needs a full length mirror in her room…right??
I like my rooms to feel cozy, comfortable, and have elements that make it personal to me. I am definitely on my way to moving toward lighter colors…will never let go of my black accents though!
Would love to know what you think! All comments are so appreciated! And if you like what you see here I would love to have you as a follower!
Cannot wait to get moving with my next project!

I am hopping over from crafty, scrappy, happy...
ReplyDeleteI love your room redo!
1. I think the chairs look great- the pillows give them the perfect touch to help them fit.
2. I am seriously DROOLING over the pallet shelf/ picture hanger thingy!!
3. I completely relate to the comforter issue. I have a white down one (at the cleaners currently) that just is not holding up to the kid and dog traffic. :)
Great job!

Maggie the room looks great. I cannot seem to get out of my affinity for saturated colors on my walls. Oh well. I love the pallet area - think I might have to do that in my bedroom. So I need you to 'fess up - where do you keep all the magazines that don't fit in that little basket?????
ReplyDeleteOh, and I forgot to say - although you're not a iron the bedding kind of girl, I iron sheets every now and then - it feels so good it is almost erotic! (or is it neurotic?)
ReplyDeleteReally nice job on the makeover. I love the natural elements--I'm crazy for driftwood. I had to go back several times and see where something was placed in the room--always a good thing for a blog post!
ReplyDeleteAlso, love the graphic and the name of your blog--too cute.
ReplyDeleteWe're planning to change our bedroom from olive to light blue. love the way yours turned out. What is the name of the blue paint? So hard to find one that's not little boy blue. Love your color!
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom looks beautiful! Can you share the paint color? It is lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh Maggie, it's gorgeous! I love the colors you chose. I think it's great how you transformed the .65?!! shades, and the sitting area is perfect. You did an amazing job, thank you for sharing it with us at Inspiration Friday!
